In in the may of 2000 we holidayed on the Greek
Island of Zakynthos with
Kevin
and Shirley. We stayed in the resort of Argassi in the Krinas apartments.
The accommodation was of a good standard and everything worked, although
you did have to get the right combination of switches to get some of
the lights on. The town of Argassi is driven by tourism so there are
lots of gift shops and small stores.
Eating out is relatively cheap and the food
in most restaurants is good. During the two weeks we stayed there we
only cooked about two meals. The following list gives some of the places
we eat and my opinion of them.
|
The Edam
|
Typical Greek Taverner complete with vines hanging
from the roof. Really good food and a friendly welcome
|
|
The Big Plate
|
Good, fair portions.
|
|
Phoenix
|
Good service and food
|
|
The Green Frog
|
English, average food, very poor service
|
|
The Village in Zante town
|
Very over priced for average food. Avoid it!

The most enjoyable night out we had was at the
Target bar on top of the hill
behind
the apartments. They do a Greek night with dancing and Free wine!! As
the bottles start to empty another appears on the table! Consequently
I couldn't remember going home! If you only go to one Greek night make
sure it's this one!
We took a bout trip around the island on the
Dias. This was a really good trip and the scenery around the island
is fantastic. If we ever go back to the island we will hire a car and
explore a lot more.
All in all it was a great holiday one that we
will look back on with great affection. More Pictures of Zakynthos can
